What is the fire resistance function of fluorocarbon aluminum panels?

As a commonly used decorative material for building curtain walls, fluorocarbon aluminum panels are often considered in many projects to pay attention to the panel's fire resistance. In public building projects, fire resistance indicators are an important reference for material selection.

The base material of aluminum panels is aluminum alloy, which is a non-combustible metal material. Fluorocarbon coatings are organic coatings with thin coatings, so the heat generated during combustion is limited. The core of the curtain wall system's fire resistance lies not in the aluminum panel panels, but in the internal fireproof sealing materials provided within the curtain wall structure.

When the curtain wall crosses floors, fire isolation structures must be installed between floors. Typically, fireproof rock wool is combined with fireproof sealant to form a fireproof sealing layer that blocks flames and smoke from spreading between floors. The entire structure meets the requirements for GB8624-2006 classification of combustion performance of building materials, reaching A2 grade curtain wall construction, which can satisfy public building fire safety standards.

It is necessary to distinguish between the panels themselves and the curtain wall system. Aluminum panel panels are non-combustible, but if they are filled with combustible materials inside, their overall fire resistance will drop significantly. Standard curtain wall solutions require aluminum panel cavities not filled with combustible insulation materials; insulation materials must be non-combustible or flame-retardant.

In the early stages of the project, the entire curtain wall construction plan should be confirmed based on the building type and fire safety requirements. Fire prevention cannot be achieved solely by aluminum panel panels; complete fire sealing and smoke isolation structures are indispensable. Incoming materials must be verified with inspection reports, and on-site construction must strictly follow drawings to complete fire prevention sealing to meet fire safety requirements in public places.
