What are the obvious differences between double-curved aluminum panels and monocurved aluminum panels?

Modern building facades increasingly feature curved shapes. Single-curved and double-curved aluminum panels are commonly used materials for curved curtain walls, with clear differences in shape, processing difficulty, and applicable scenarios.

Monocurved aluminum panels bend in only one direction while remaining flat in the other direction. The curved shape resembles the side of a cylinder, with a relatively simple shape. During processing, roller bending or simple mold forming is used, resulting in low mold costs, shorter production cycles, and lower manufacturing costs. They are mostly used in buildings with rounded columns, curved walls, simple curved canopies, and are relatively common products in curved curtain walls.

Double-curved aluminum panels have two curves simultaneously in perpendicular directions, resembling spherical or saddle surfaces, with curved surfaces that are more complex and dynamic. Custom specialized molds are required, formed by drawing and stamping, resulting in complex processing techniques, longer production cycles, higher sheet material waste, and higher costs than single-curved sheets. Commonly used on large landmark buildings and artistic facades to achieve smooth and varied curved surfaces.

Selection must be done well during the project design phase. Simple, curved structures prioritize single-curved aluminum panels, which can effectively control costs. If architectural design requires complex spatial curves, double-curved aluminum panels are needed.

At the same time, both types of panels require higher installation precision than flat aluminum panels. Processing errors of curved panel blocks must be strictly controlled, and on-site skeleton layout and positioning must be precise, ensuring uniform joints between slabs to achieve the desired appearance in architectural design.
